Community Support
Education: Scholarships – Fisher Industries founders, Gene and Sheila Fisher, sponsor an annual scholarship for children or employees of Fisher Industries who are attending Dickinson State University. Internships and Education – We agree with Anton Chekhov, a Russian playwright, who said “Knowledge is of no value unless you put it into practice.” That is why we provide opportunities for young people in our area to job shadow or become interns. Young minds bring fresh ideas and a new perspective and we embrace the opportunity to help young people grow professionally. At Fisher Industries, interns gain real-world experience in their chosen field – welding, engineering, business, marketing, law or accounting. Please contact our Human Resources director for availability. We consistently support community and school based welding education programs through the donation of materials and scrap iron. Continuing Education – We are committed to the continuing education of our employees. That is why we sponsor annual safety training and encourage employees to participate in professional training specific to their role in the company. Recently, we have offered leadership training for current and up-and-coming company supervisors. Community Involvement: We are extremely proud of our employees who volunteer with area fire departments, ambulance services and various community organizations. We show our support of their efforts with donations to their projects. In 2008, for example, we donated 7 tons of sand to the Dickinson Optimist Club for their Sandbox Days. We are also consistent supporters of youth sports programs, Boy Scouts of America and 4-H.
In 2008, more than a dozen of our employees at the Corporate Headquarters participated in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Our Relay team raised approximately $1,100.00 for the American Cancer Society to “Crush Out Cancer”. We are proud local sponsors of: |
