Nearly half a century ago our humble beginning on the western edge of North Dakota’s vast prairies, instilled in Fisher Industries, a strong work ethic, pride in a job done well, and excitement for making the “impossible” possible. Today, Fisher Industries serves all aspects of the aggregate processing industry – from the design and fabrication of aggregate equipment, to processing and end use of aggregate materials. We pursue challenges and are known to successfully tackle “tough jobs.”
Meet the team:
In 1952, Fisher Industries began as Fisher Sand and Gravel, a small aggregate business in western North Dakota. By 1967, our founder, Gene Fisher, recognized his company’s need for customized, quality aggregate processing equipment. That year, he created an affiliate company, General Steel and Supply, to repair, remodel, design and fabricate quality, customized aggregate processing equipment.
Today, Fisher Sand and Gravel operates 45 commercial crushing and processing plants throughout 12 states. Each plant is equipped with customized processing solutions created by General Steel and Supply. We specialize in portable jobs and, with an equipment fleet of over 4,000 active pieces, we still like to handle those “tough jobs,” such as the Galena Creek Bridge project near Reno, Nevada. Upon completion, the bridge will be one of the largest structures of its type in the United States, spanning 1,790 feet and standing 300 feet tall. It will link Reno and Carson City, Nevada entirely by freeway.
General Steel and Supply continues to design and fabricate quality aggregate processing equipment for Fisher Industries and countless companies throughout the United States and Europe. Our ability to field test designs, provides a competitive edge and ultimately a better product for all customers. The General Steel team works with customers, tailoring solutions for their “tough jobs.” Products include a patented dry fines separation system, the Fisher Air Separator, as well as apron pan chain feeders, multiple conveyor and stacker styles, truck scales, generator vans, pug mills, crushing, screening and washing equipment. All products are manufactured to customer specifications.
From asphalt to concrete, Fisher Industries also provides roadway solutions. Southwest Asphalt and Southwest Asphalt Paving opened in 2003 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and in Tempe, Arizona in 2005. A leader in paving in the southwest United States, Southwest Asphalt Paving is known for completing projects ahead of schedule. Working with Fisher Sand and Gravel, Southwest Asphalt Paving handles paving jobs from crushing the aggregate through the final roller pass. Fisher Ready Mix provides complete concrete capabilities, specializing in the latest ready mix technologies to handle the “tough jobs.”
Fisher Excavation and Arizona Drilling and Blasting literally move mountains. Working with land developers, we turn uninhabitable land into housing and commercial developments. Our most visible project is Crystal Ridge, Henderson, Nevada, just south of Las Vegas. Here we transformed 15,000,000 cubic yards of rugged mountainside into lavish residential lots.
Together, the Fisher Industries team employs 1200 aggregate processing professionals throughout the Dakotas, Montana, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Colorado, Utah, California and Wyoming. We’re on the move and interested in working with you to tackle the “tough jobs.”
