As the rest of the country focuses on how to go green, Fisher Industries in Dickinson has taken a giant step in making the transition.
This spring, the heavy equipment manufacturer installed lighting and power technology to improve their usage of electricity at the corporate headquarters in Dickinson.
Fisher Industries partnered with Total Energy Concepts of Bismarck to install an energy optimization system that reduces energy usage and protects their manufacturing equipment from electrical surges.
Fisher Industries also installed power-saving lighting throughout the complex of buildings.
The electrical improvements have saved 34 percent of the company’s energy consumption in the first four months. After Fisher Industries modified the office lighting system, they donated the fluorescent bulbs they were no longer using to various schools.
The company is also looking at installing the technology in other Fisher offices and some of the equipment manufactured by Fisher Industries.
